Digital Design Challenge - Music Art Design

Project Description

Micro-project: Music Artwork Visual Research

  • Look at the examples of music artwork in this week’s PDF
  • Research your own examples of music artwork
  • Bring two examples to the next session
  • Select a piece of music – without lyrics – to work with (this is to encourage a focus on the music, rather than the lyrics)
  • Listen to it: what textures and shapes does it suggest to you?
  • Create/collect textures that reflect this music (draw; photograph; cut out from paper sources)
  • Create/collect shapes, patterns that reflect elements of your selected music – organic shapes, geometric shapes
  • Combine the textures and shapes in a visual design that responds to the music. This can be paper-based or digital work (suggest 1000 x 1000 image size)

My Role in this project

This was an interesting project to work on as I have to apply some programming skills / Processing coding in order to generate the sound wave. Then I started this project by brainstorming and sketching around the first Idea that came in my mind by following the brief. Then I started to create some variations around each design in order to have a unique piece of each and select the best one for the project. I continued working on the project by adding colours to the design and finally refined it on the computer using Adobe software.

Requirements:
Limited colour palette – 4 colours only
